While in school, I was away from home with no other family in the area. Initially, I had no friends in the area either, until I developed some friendships with classmates. This is where Mrs. Jefferson was key. I am not a particularly outgoing soul, but Mrs. Jefferson didn't care. She sought to involve me, and she truly cared about my well-being. On one holiday occasion, when I could not afford to travel home and see my family, Mrs. Jefferson opened her home to me and invited me to spend Easter with her. She actually inspired me to seek out a church family at school and become baptized and accept the Lord as my savior.
